Obituary

Ralph Scopa of Medford, age 84, passed away on Sunday, May 30th at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center. A lifelong Medford resident, he was the son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Nevins) Scopa. Ralph was employed by the Highway Department for the City of Medford for over 38 years.

Ralph adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren and although he was a man of few words, he always had much to say to them. He was also known to allow the neighborhood kids play on the back of the big red truck. Ralph was a good friend and was always willing to help out someone in need. He also worked in the carnival business, and loved operating a sausage truck at town fairs, including Topsfield, and at Faneuil Hall.

Ralph was the beloved husband of the late Barbara (Barrasso) Scopa, and the devoted father of Anthony Scopa and his wife Kathy of Nashua, NH, and Denise Scopa of Medford. He was the loving grandfather of Kaitlyn and Nicholas Scopa, and the cherished great grandfather of Saphira Julia and Jackson Ronald Scopa-Garvin. Ralph was the dear brother of the late Mary Simione and Carmela Rotondo, and is survived by loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, June 4th at 6:30 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 4 through 6:30 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Ralph’s name to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd,, Waltham, MA 02452.
