Benny James Goddard, 69, of Tifton passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Elliott Apinwall officiating. A eulogy will be given by Greg Sheppard. Mr. Goddard will be laid to rest at Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Enigma. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Thomas Boyd, Mark Barnard, William Brooks, Clary Barnard, Christopher Spires and William Baldree will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be General Earl’s Breakfast Club, Mike Walden, Carroll Gray,Chett Ray, Brett Ray, D. W. Harper and Darrien Yearby.
Born November 2, 1951, in Ocilla, Mr. Goddard was the son of the late Judge Thomas Goddard and Monteen Barnes Goddard. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Goddard; and one sister, Linda McMillan. He was the owner of Goddard Mobile Home Service in Tifton. He was a follower of Jesus Christ and attended several churches. He loved his family with all his heart and loved spending time with his friends. He loved antique cars, boating on Lake Eufaula and never met a stranger.
Mr. Goddard is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia Roberson Goddard of Tifton; one son, James Goddard of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheree Goddard Moore and husband, Michael of Tifton; one stepdaughter, Amy Waldron of Tifton; one stepson, Michael Bennett; two brothers and one sister-in-law Jimmy and Jimmy Kay Goddard of Brookfield and Jakie Goddard of Enigma; two sisters, Nancy Goddard of Brookfield and Tommie Powers of Brunswick; and seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn Stull, Kelsey Waldron, David Stull, Garrett Brown, Abigail Goddard, Allison Goddard and Lyla Moore.
