Obituary

Robert Trombley of Derry, NH passed away at home on Friday, May 28, 2021. He was 95. Bob was born on December 12, 1925 in Haverhill, MA., one of four children of George and Dorothy Trombley. From 1943 to 1946, Bob served in the United States Navy on the USS Ahrens during and after World War II. On the USS Ahrens, Bob was involved in the rescue of 673 survivors after a U-549 torpedoed the escort carrier USS Block Island in the Atlantic. He also served on the USS Ahrens during several missions as part of the 7th Fleet in the Pacific.

On September 7, 1947, Bob married Doris Dupras of Plaistow, N.H. Bob and Doris had two children, Linda Eddy of Naples, FL. and Robert Trombley of Boylston, MA. Bob and Doris were married for 36 years until Doris’ death in 1984.
Bob held sales and installation positions at various interior decorating companies, and in 1970, he joined his father, George, and brother, Dick, as owners/operators of Granite State Floor Covering in Derry, N.H., where he remained until his retirement in 1986.

Bob enjoyed playing golf and was also active in the Catholic Church and rose to 4th Degree (Knighthood) with the Knights of Columbus. In his later years, Bob was a resident of Birch Heights in Derry, N.H., where he was involved in a several activities and had many friends.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Doris, brother, Richard Trombley, and grandson, Richard Eddy. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Eddy, son, Robert Trombley, sister, Carol Leveque of West Newfield, ME., sister Jeannine McCollough of Derry, N.H., grandson, Kevin Eddy of Laguna Hills, CA., granddaughter, Janna Trombley of West Boylston, MA., and several nieces and nephews.

A calling hour for family and close friends is planned for Monday, June 14th from 8:30 - 9:30am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. At the family’s request, it is suggested that those in attendance wear face masks and maintain social distancing while in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Ave., Derry. It is requested in lieu of flowers, donations in his name be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220.
