CHICOPEE – Robert T. “Bob” Roy, Sr., 81, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, May 30, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on December 19, 1939, a beloved son of the late Gaston and Aldegonde (Martinbeault) Roy. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke Trade High School and moved to Aldenville in 1955 where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard for several years. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 63 and had worked at the Carl Fisher Company in Springfield and later worked at Kleeburg Sheet Metal, Inc. in South Hadley and Ludlow. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He was a member of the Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 NAFCA Camping Club and the American Bosch Travel Club. An avid Ham Radio Operator, he was a member of the Mount Tom Repeater Club and used the call sign N1ABJ. He also was a model train enthusiast. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Marie A. (Berneche) Roy. They were married on September 26, 1959 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 61 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving children, Karen M. Schuster and her partner, Todd Crane, of Westfield and Robert T. Roy, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of East Longmeadow; his five cherished grandchildren, Kristen Schuster and her partner, Matthew Bard, Scott Schuster, Jr. and his wife, Glenda, Robert Roy III, Crystal Carr and Jessica Arias and her husband, Jimmy; his eleven cherished great grandchildren, Emma and Clara Bard, Soleil, Scott III and Luna Schuster, Robert Roy IV, Nicholas and Benjamin Carr and Micah, Isaac and Jacob Arias; his dear sister, Denise Manseau and her husband, Richard, of Southern Pines, NC; his two dear sisters- in-law, Barbara Roy of Myrtle Beach, SC and Dorothy Roy of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Roy and Berneche families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two dear brothers, Richard and Donald Roy; his two dear sisters, Doris Desroches and Jean LaCoy; and his dear brother-in-law, Robert Berneche.
