Obituary

Mary H. Bradley, 86, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Irwinville Baptist Church in Irwinville, with the Rev. Rex Johnson and the Rev. Dennis Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ms. Bradley was born January 13, 1935, to the late J.D. & Ruby Mae Padgett Hawkins. She was a 1952 graduate of Ocilla High School. She attended college in Atlanta, earning an Associates degree. She played basketball in both high school and college. She worked as a Home Economist in Macon County, North Carolina for a time. She moved to Irwin County in 1970. She was a homemaker and worked for Sunny Dale Training Center. She later worked for the Department of Family and Children Services. Following her retirement, she worked at B.C. Moore’s. Ms. Bradley was a giver and was always helping others. She volunteered with the Red Cross and was a member of the Gallon Plus club for donations to the Bloodmobile. She also volunteered working in child care with Disaster Relief. For many years, Ms. Bradley managed the polls at the Irwinville precinct and helped coordinate the Irwinville Reunion. She was a devoted member of Irwinville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and participated in many of the church’s ministries and outreach.

She is survived by her sons: Bart & Gail Bradley of Irwinville and Jeffery Bradley of Moultrie; grandchildren: Jason Bradley, Bethany & J Lacey, Blaize & Edwin Hall, Jamie Pounds, and Lindie & Aaron Griner; great-grandchildren: Hayes Bradley, McKenley Hall, Denton Hall, Jadyn Howell, Kerrigan Howell, Blaine Pounds, Jamei Leigh Pounds, and Paige Pounds; and a special cousin, Betty Jean Bishop. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Herman Hawkins and Charles Hawkins.

The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to the American Red Cross or to Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief.
