Obituary

Thomas, Dr. Robert J. of Natick formerly of Wellesley and Naples, FL. May 27, 2021. Beloved husband of Valentina (Chabanova) Thomas and his late wife Mary Ellen (Brannigan) Thomas. He was born on July 31, 1928 to Michael and Mary (Connelly) Thomas.

Bob graduated from Boston Latin High School in 1945. He received a BS from Tufts College in 1948, a Masters in Education from Boston Teachers College in 1950, followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Georgetown Dental School in 1958. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and followed this with 6 more years in the Chemical Corps of the US Army Reserves. After dental school he transferred to the U.S. Navy Dental Corps Reserve where he served for 28 years. Retiring with the rank of Captain.

Bob practiced dentistry for 35 years fist in Boston and finishing in Wellesley. During this time he was a general dentist in the Boston Bruins Organization for 20 years.

Member of The Wellesley Club.

Bob was the brother of Dr. Edwin Thomas and the late Eleanor MacDonald. Step father of Leonid Kudryavtsev of Pleasant Prairie, WI. Also survived by 5 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations in Bob’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105.

Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley on Friday, June 4, from 8:30-9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church Wellesley at 10am.
