Obituary

Dorothy Mae Rogers was born on August 31, 1948 in Tunica Mississippi. She was the fourth of her parents eight children. She was called home on Friday, May 21, 2021. Dorothy attended Rosa Fort High school in Tunica, Mississippi and later attended culinary school in Boston where she discovered her love of food and catering events. Before retirement, she worked as a chef at the Westin Copley Plaza Hotel for over 25 years. For most of her adult life, Dorothy lived with and her parents, Bernetha and Charlie Rogers before their passing and then with her youngest sister, Mary Rogers before her passing. Dorothy had a love of interior decorating and listening to Al Green. She was a lover of music and laughter as well as shoes and purses. For the past six years, Dorothy lived with her oldest sister Mamie Clark in Plymouth, MA. Together they planted flowers, watched Westerns, and enjoyed cooking Southern meals. She was known by those closest to her as a woman with a great sense of humor and a generous heart.
Dorothy is survived by her son Dana Rogers of Boston, Her sisters Bernetha Clemons and Mamie Clark and her brothers, Earl and Willie Rogers. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and close friends whom she was very grateful to have as part of her life. Funeral services will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Tuesday June 1 from 10 am until 12 noon. Interment will then follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
