James Robert “J. R.” Hannah, Jr, 68, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, May 21, 2021, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, May 29, 2021, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Pastor Jim Schlicht officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith, Davis, Barton Cemetery in Wilcox County, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
Mr. Hannah was born September 21, 1952, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late James Robert Hannah, Sr. & Katherine Cook Hannah. He lived in the community all of his life. Mr. Hannah worked as a machine operator and cutter for Elixir Industries for 20 years. He enjoyed hanging out at Foster’s and helped with maintenance. He was an awesome brother who loved to fish, travel, eat, and collect things. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by his siblings: Quinnelle H. Coker & Bernard of Fitzgerald, Julia Schlicht & Jim of Cartersville; Jack Hannah & Melody of Fitzgerald; five nieces and nephews: Michelle Slaven, Danelle Taylor, Josh Hood, Chad Hannah and Jai Hannah; great-nieces and nephews: Nicole Johnson, Levi Hannah, Anthony Slaven, Elijah Taylor and Angelina Hood and three great-great-nieces and nephews: Jayah Davison, Asher Davison and Riker Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Reuben Hannah.
