Adolphe J. “Al” Collette, Jr., age 86, of Attleboro, formerly of Norton passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, May 27, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Joan M. (Larivee-St.Germain) Collette, to whom he was wed for seven years and the late Rose E. (Gorman) Collette, who died on June 26, 2003.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on August 12, 1934, he was a loving son of the late Adolphe J., Sr. and Gertrude (Baris) Collette.
Al grew up and was educated in Pawtucket. He had made his home in Attleboro for the past seven years and was a former resident of Norton for over fifty years.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Collette had worked as a custodian for over thirty years at Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and when younger was employed at Fernandes Supermarket. Al also served the Town of Norton as a special police officer, call firefighter and as a member of the Norton Housing Authority.
Al’s favorite times by far were those spent with his adoring family. He was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton, where he also served as a collector and assisted at Friday night bingo. He enjoyed woodworking, tinkering around at “Fieldstone Farm” in Attleboro and throughout his life had a love for roller-skating and dancing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Annemarie R. Collette of Norton, Suzanne D. Redmond and her husband Brian of Norton and A. Joseph Collette, III and his wife Jessica of Cumberland, RI. He was the cherished grandfather of Sean Redmond, Bailey Redmond and the late Joshua Collette. He was the dear brother of Stella Sweet of Central Falls, RI, Jeanne Plociak of Pawtucket, RI, Constance Johnson of Central Falls, RI. Marguerite Pike and her husband Norman of Pawtucket, RI and the late Leo Collette, Gloria Joachim, Rita Manley, Robert Collette and Richard Collette. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, June 1st from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 2nd at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial will follow at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
