June Louise (Russo) Sampson, a longtime resident of East Bridgewater, MA, passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2021 at the stellar age of 99 ½. Yrs old.
Born in Brockton, MA on Oct. 24, 1921, June was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Gladys (Gummow) Russo. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph A Sampson.
June graduated from Whitman High School in 1939 and Brockton Business College in 1944. She worked for Wheeler Reflector during WWII and later went into the food services business. June ran Ridder's Ice Cream Stand for many years.
June's greatest joy was her family and travelling to visit them. Marshfield beaches were also important to her and her family. She also treasured luncheons with the Gummow cousins and times spent with her great neighbors.
She was preceded in death by brothers William Russo of Wilmington DE and Shirley Russo of Hanson, MA, a niece, JoAnn (Russo) Daraio of Stratford, NJ, and childhood friend Rita McCordick.
June leaves two sons, Robert Sampson and his partner, Pete Staniscia, of Scottsdale, Arizona; Thomas Sampson and sons of Massachusetts; and three daughters, Jeanne and husband, Tim Kenison, Patricia and husband, Randall Carbone, and Deb and husband, Lee Foster of Vermont; sisters-in-law Janice Russo (Shirley) and Elsie Russo (William). June also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins, along with her true friends, Joan Kirby and Martha Davis
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Thursday June 3 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
