Leicester – Sally F. (VanNess) Allen, 81, of Leicester, passed away peacefully in her home while surrounded by her family on Friday, May 21, 2021.
Sally is survived by a son, Shane Sleight of Auburn; 4 daughters, Marjorie Pattison of Canandaigua, NY, Melody Morris of Leicester, Michele Sleight of Worcester and Meredith Carter of Leicester; a brother, Michael VanNess of Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Allen was born in Hornell, NY daughter of the late, Wesley and Marjorie (Cooper) Van Ness and is also predeceased by her first husband, Lester Sleight, who passed died in 1988; her second husband, Russell Allen who died in 2003 and a grandson, Joshua Sullivan.
Sally worked for many years in the distribution center of the TJX Companies and after her retirement she work as a receptionist at the Saint Francis Home in Worcester. She could often be found playing online games with her friends, crocheting, reading or attending yard sales, but she was the happiest when she surrounded by her family.
Her burial will take place at 1 PM on Monday, June 7, 2021 in Saint John’s Cemetery 260 Cambridge Street Worcester. Memorial contributions in memory of Sally may be made to the ALS Association of Massachusetts 685 Canton Street #103, Norwood, MA 02062.
