Donald F. Schmitt, 94, of Westport, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at home. He was the husband of the late Eleanor D. (Seifert) Schmitt.
Born in Muskegon, MI, he was son of the late Christian and Caroline (Blindauer) Schmitt. A veteran of WWII, he served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to retirement, he was a sales manager for Gardner Denver Company in Quincy, IL. He was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. Mr. Schmitt was a member of the Elks Lodge #1264 of Framingham, MA and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing on the Westport River and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son: Paul Schmitt and his wife Debra of Mendon, MA; 3 daughters: Kathryn Crosby and her husband Ronald of Westport, Rebecca Owen and her husband Nolan of Batesville, MS and Laura Davis and her husband Sam of AL; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was father of the late Carl Schmitt and brother of the late Robert Schmitt, Lawrence Schmitt, James Schmitt and Delores Styburski.
At the family's request services will be private.
