EAST SPRINGFIELD – Robert D. “Bobby” Valentine, 75, of East Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, May 22, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on August 7, 1945, a son of the late Aldo N. and Rosemond (Johnson) Valentine. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Trade High School, lived in Hamden for several years before returning to East Springfield where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was the Co-Owner and Property Manager for Aldo Realty and previously was employed for Corserta and Maplegate, all in Springfield. Bob was a member of the Adriatic Club in Springfield. He was an avid bowler, loved to play bocci, and was often seen riding around on his bicycle. Most of all, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family in their RV. He was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in East Springfield. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Colette M.L. (Chicoine) Valentine. They were married at the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in the North End section of Springfield on August 7, 1965 and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. In addition to his wife, he leaves his two loving children, Gina M. Fraser and her husband, Brett, of Wilbraham, and Donnie R. Valentine and his partner, Catherine Chrusciel, of Springfield; his loving mother in law, Georgette T. (Rousseau) Chicoine of Chicopee; his six cherished grandchildren, Brodie, Isabella, and Jeremiah Fraser, Jack Valentine, and Nicholas and Noah Valentine; his two cherished great grandchildren, Sofia and Caleb; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Valentine and Chicoine families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved son, Anthony R. Valentine who was Called Home on May 6, 2015; his cherished grandson, James Lee Gaudet who was Called Home on September 15, 2017; his two dear brothers, Daniel J. Valentine who was Called Home on November 13, 2014, and Thomas A. Valentine who was Called Home on August 4, 2020; and his dear sister, Marjorie “Teddy” Cuzzone who was Called Home on January 24, 2003. His funeral will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial will follow the Mass at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before Mass.
