Susan Gay Greenhalgh, 73, of Old Mystic passed away peacefully at Mystic Healthcare in Mystic on Saturday, May 22, 2021 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Suzy was born on December 16, 1947 in Rockland Maine to Alvery ad Dorathea Gay. Suzy grew up and attended school in Thomaston Maine and later in Gulfport, Florida, where she graduated from Boca Ciaga High School in 1966.
She moved to Stonington in 1970 where she began forty-five year career as an accounting specialist at Mystic Seaport Museum. She also worked for a number of years as the assistant Registrar of Voters for the Town of Stonington.
She is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, Barry Greenhalgh, her brother William Gay of Owls Head Maine, her sister Betsy Fyler of Thomaston Maine, her brother-in-law Bruce Greenhalgh of Caldwell Idaho, and her step children Gretchen Greenhalgh of Springfield PA., Patrick Greenhalgh of Windham CT and Emily Petrick of Plainfield CT.
She was predeceased by her parents and her "oldest big brother" Peter Gay of Milton Vermont.
Visitation will be held at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 4 to 6pm. Donations may be made to the Smilow Cancer Center, Waterford, CT.
