Anna S. (Karbowski) Hargrave, 97, of Auburn, died Sunday, May 23rd at home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 47 years, Thomas W. Hargrave died in 1994. She is survived by her son, Alfred T. Hargrave, Sr. and his wife, Cynthia of Grafton; three grandchildren, Alfred T, Hargrave, Jr. and his wife, Gail, Thomas G. Hargrave and his wife, Sandra and Michael J. Hargrave and his wife, Jade; nine great-grandchildren, Coltin, Sofia, Mason, Angelina, Eliza, Kendal, Reid, Jacob and Lawson. She was predeceased by three brothers, Henry, Louis and Adolph Karbowski and three sisters, Elizabeth Niedzwicki, Laura Sheeran and Virginia Ferrantino.
Anna was born in Worcester, the daughter of Waclaw and Wladyslawa (Wolosz) Karbowski; and had worked for New England Telephone as an elevator operator, then in the maintenance department and retired as a clerk after 30 years of service. She was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, its Woman's Guild, the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her apple pie, turkey soup, candy cane cookies and meatloaf will be remembered and missed by her family.

Her funeral is, Friday, May 28th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with her funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 5 Spaulding Street. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:30 the morning of the funeral in the funeral home.
