Teresa Louise (Salani) Michelson, age 60, of Lowell, formerly of Winchester, passed away on May 22, 2021 after a courageous battle with mouth cancer. Born in Winchester, MA, she was the daughter of Leonora L. and the late Joseph A. Salani. She was a “flower child” of the sixties and artistically creative. She attended Emmanuel College, where she graduated with honors and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. For her college thesis she created an original pencil sketch of her depiction of Neptune, The God of the Sea, characterized by hundreds of hand-drawn sea shells. It was one of her proudest artistic accomplishments. She was a proud captain of Food and Beverage in the hotel industry for many years, a breast cancer survivor in remission for 8 years and an active donor to the American Cancer Society. In her spare time, she loved crosswords, cross-stitching, watching “Judge Judy”, “The Price Is Right”, “Family Feud”, and cooked her fanny off! She always had fresh homemade tomato sauce in the freezer. There wasn’t a day where she didn’t indulge in fine chocolates, creamy ice creams and she also enjoyed fresh cold cuts from the local deli. She will be remembered as a strong and determined witty riot, who thought quickly on her feet, and, as she would tell you, “I think of everything!”, and also would lovingly exclaim, “Brilliant!”.
In addition to her mother, Leonora, Teresa is lovingly survived by her children: Adelle Mason (Scott) of Pelham, NH, Anna Marie Silva (Flaviano) and Tiffany Michelson, all of Lowell. She was the devoted grandmother of Juliana Mason and Nylani Reyes, and the dear sister Elisa A. Spence (William) of Lexington, Joseph A. Salani, Jr. of Waltham, Paul L. Salani (late Susan) of Billerica, and Diana M. Salani of North Reading. She is further survived by her niece, Jessica Salani, and former husband, Jason W. Michelson.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, MA on Thursday, May 27 from 10AM-12noon, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 12:30pm, with adherence to mask-wearing and social-distancing requirements. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org.
