Obituary

MATTALIANO, Joseph Paul age 88, of Canton and Sagamore Beach passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 21, 2021. He was the son of Joseph and Angela Mattaliano, of Mattapan. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Adrienne Dillon Mattaliano and survived by his sister Rita Aloupis. He was the father of seven children, J. Paul and wife Andra of Boston, David and wife Laurie of Wellesley, Frank and wife Sarah of Norfolk, Robert of San Francisco, Megan Mattaliano of Needham, Suzanne Garrity and husband John of Sudbury, Caitlin Kuhe and husband Tucker of Pittsford, NY. He was known as “ Papa Joe" to eleven beautiful grandchildren; Mariella, Mark, Davis, Christian, Jane, Grace, Jack, Finn, Cait, Evelyn and Betsy. 

Football would be his passion and path to college. Cathedral High and Hyde Park High School would lead him to captain the Boston College Eagle’s football team. He served proudly in the Marine Corps. Joe had a long career in the investment business in Boston. He loved skiing with his family and playing tennis and golf with many friends in Canton, Sagamore Beach and Marco Island. 

Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM on Wednesday, May 26 from 9:00-10:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 420 High Street, Dedham at 11:00 am. Family and friends invited. Interment Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations may be made in Joe's name to: Alzheimer's Association: National Processing Center, Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090 or at alz.org.
