Rev. Jose Allende

Rev. Jose Allende, age 75, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully at St. Anne’s Hospital with his wife by his side on Tuesday May 18, 2021. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and a New Bedford resident for 58 years, he was the son of the late Jorge Allende and Monsa Toledo.
Rev. Allende was a former employee at the Kennedy Donovan Center, Presbyter of Southern New England Assemblies of God, Principle of Assemblies of God Bible Institute, Chaplin of Prison Ministries, and the Pastor of numerous New Bedford and Cape Cod churches. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, watching the Red Sox, and he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
As a beloved husband of 54 years to Monserrate Allende, he was a dedicated family man. Jose is survived by his children, Milly Duarte and her husband Joe and their two children Joey and Brieanne, Maricza Allende and her two children Arianne and Elijah, Richard Allende, David Allende and his daughter Corryn, Daniel Allende and his wife Tina and their son Gabriel, Elias Allende and his wife Crystal.
He was the brother of Juana Serrano, Milagros Saldana, Lizette Saldana, Gladys Saldana, Miriam Garcia, Wilfredo Rullan, and the late Francisco Saldana.
Rev. Jose’s celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 9am at Christian Fellowship Center located at 822 Church Street, New Bedford, MA 02745. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
