Worcester – Janette (Peters) Emond, 97, of Worcester, died peacefully in Parsons Hill Rehabilitation and Health Care Center after a long life.
Janette was born in Heath, MA, daughter of the late Leon and Philippine (Lively) Peters. She is survived by a daughter, Cassandra LeBlanc of Spencer, MA. She is also survived by a brother John Peters of Colrain, MA; four sisters, Evelyn Lemay, Beatrice Drew, Teresa Hicks and Sylvia Williams; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Janette was predeceased by her two husbands, Roland Emond, Sr. and Edward Emond and a daughter, Anne M. Raynor of New Hampshire and a son, Rev. Roland Emond Jr. of Pennsylvania. She is also predeceased by brothers, Nelson, Cleon, Joseph and Leon Peters and sisters, Leona Mills, Maria Ours, Paulina Stevenson and Lucille Annear.
Mrs. Emond was a self-employed dress maker and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Assumption College and taught at the former Holy Name Grammar School for many years and then for the City of Worcester, MA. She was a longtime member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Worcester until its closing in 2008. She then joined Our Lady of the Angels Church where she remained a member. While at Holy Name of Jesus Church she was a dedicated volunteer as the Religious Education Coordinator, co-administrator of the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and past president of the Women’s Guild. Janette also belonged to the Golden Age Club, the Busy Bee’s and worked at the Parish Bingo, along with her husband Edward, for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 11 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church 1222 Main St. with burial to follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester before her funeral. If you are unable to attend the funeral mass for Janette, you will be able to watch online by visiting her obituary on the funeral home website any time after 4PM on Friday.
