Obituary

Rachel "Peachie" L. Spencer, 63, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, May 16, 2021.

She was born in Acushnet, MA and resided in New Bedford all of her life. She was the daughter of the late João B. Spencer and Irisalva (Andrade) Rodrigues. She was the long-time partner of Troy Jackson, and was previously married to Michael A. Lisbon, Sr.

Rachel was a beloved mother, who enjoyed reading and playing Sudoku. She was a parishioner at New Life South Coast in New Bedford and a member of their Café Team. Rachel was employed by the Trial Court of Massachusetts, working as a Probation Officer II and took pride in leading the New Bedford District Drug Court for many years. She worked for the judicial system in Roxbury, New Bedford and Wareham courts.

Rachel graduated from New Bedford High School, Class of 1976 and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University in 1981.

Survivors include her children, Michael A. Lisbon, Jr. and his partner Aja Clark, Tenesha R. Lisbon, and Aaron M. Spencer, all of New Bedford; her siblings, Carol Spencer-Monteiro and her husband Allan, of New Bedford, William Spencer of Connecticut, John Spencer and his wife Claudia, and Marie Monteiro and her partner Russell, her niece and nephew, Shiona and D.J. Rose, great-niece Kaylani, all of New Bedford. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her brother Tiago C. Senna

Rachel's visitation will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
