WORCESTER___ Dorothy, affectionately known to many as “Aunt Dot” is survived by her brother-in-law, Ronald Beaudet of South Dennis, a much loved and devoted nephew and godson, Thomas Beaudet and his wife Sharon of Worcester, several nieces of the Olihovick, Mahan and Beaudet families, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, and friends.
Dorothy was born in Worcester the daughter of Michael J. and Bridget (Comyn) Morrisey, predeceased by her brother Edmund F. Morrissey, her sister and best friend Eileen Olihovick and her husband Alexander, her sister Mary C. Mahan and her husband Robert, and recently her sister Anne “Nancy” Beaudet, her cousin Thomas J. Powers, her great nephew Ryan S. Collette and great niece Ashley B. Bates.
Dorothy was a graduate of the Ascension High School and a member of the Notre Dame Alumnae Association. For many years she was employed at Saint Vincent Hospital in the Department of Pathology, retiring as Secretary to the Chief. She returned to Worcester after living in North Brookfield for many years and has been a lifelong parishioner of Saint John Church.
Dorothy was particularly proud of her Irish heritage. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Ireland, cruises to the Caribbean and trips to Maine and Cape Cod. The many bus trips to Atlantic City with family and friends left her with wonderful memories. Her love of get togethers, no matter the occasion, was always on her agenda. Dot was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed solving difficult crossword puzzles when time allowed.
“Aunt Dot” will always be remembered for her generous nature, selflessness, and her willingness to help others by always being there when needed.
A deep sense of gratitude to her nephew Tom and his wife Sharon and to her niece Coleen and her husband Michael for the understanding, consideration, and compassion during emotional and stressful times and for their thoughtfulness with the many meals and Sunday luncheons. Last but not least, the accompanying “Cocktail hours” which were thoroughly enjoyed by all, be it on the front porch or the back deck.
A funeral with a Mass will be on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:30 am in St. John Church, 40 Temple St. A calling hour will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple St., Worcester, MA 01604, or Saint John's Food for the Poor, 20 Temple St., Worcester, MA, 01604.
