Samuel I. Orlando, age 100, of Petaluma, CA, formerly of Revere and Medford, passed away on Wednesday, May 12. Born and raised in San Francisco, he was the son of the late Giovanni Orlando. Samuel proudly served in the Navy during World War II. Upon his discharge in South Boston, he married and stayed in Massachusetts for the next 26 years, were he was employed in the restaurant business.
Samuel was the beloved husband of the late Rose (Rizzo) Orlando, and the devoted father of John Orlando and his wife Ginger of Medford, and Robert Orlando and his wife Tonya of Colorado. He was the loving grandfather of Lillie, Gianni and Dante, and the great grandfather of Giovanni and Lilliana. Samuel was the dear brother of Tony Orlando of Petaluma, CA. He is also survived by his nephews Vincent, Stephen, Francis and Frederick Borelli, his niece Camille Catone, and his dear friends Bob Singleton, Teresa Lopez, Carmen Kalt and Fr. Michael.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 9th at 1:30 PM in Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may gather at the cemetery gate between 1:15 PM and 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Samuel’s name to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
