Albert H. Winget, Jr.
U.S. Navy Veteran
DRACUT: Albert H. “Bert” Winget, Jr. age 77, of Dracut, passed away at the Brockton V.A. Medical Center on Monday, March 29, 2021.
Born in Arlington on June 19, 1943, he was the son of the late Albert H. Winget, Sr. and the late Evelyn (Butcher) (Winget) Brannen.
Albert was raised in Dracut and Tyngsboro and later moved to the Jamaica Plain and Dorchester area of Boston.
He attended local schools and graduated from Jamaica Plain High School.
In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War with the Heavy Attack Squadron Four.
Albert worked as a Test Technician for the Atex Company.
He was a member and former Finance Director and County Commander for the Tyngsboro American Legion Post # 247.
In addition, he was a member of the Tyngsboro Sportsman’s Club, and participated in the bowling league at Brunswick Lanes in Lowell.
“Bert” also brightened many Christmas holidays of his family and friends, and the numerous children and adults who visited Wal-Mart and other area locations, by dressing as Santa Claus and listening to the Christmas Wish-List requests that were shared.
Albert is survived by two children, retired U.S. Army Sgt., Albert H. Winget, III of Athol, and Jennifer L. McInnis of Dracut; two grandsons, Zachary and Scott McInnis both of Dracut; his former wife, Roberta A. (Ray) Winget of Lowell; one sister, Nancy Seitz and her husband Peter of Hull; also several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Albert was the brother of the late Beverly Winget and Joyce Locklin.
Committal services and U.S. Navy honors will be held Friday, June 18, at 11 a.m., at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Road, Winchendon. Those attending are asked to arrive to the Chapel by 10:45 a.m. Masks required at the cemetery.
