Marie D. (Dewhurst) Sharp, 99, of New Bedford died May 16, 2021 peacefully at Sacred Heart Home.
She was the wife of the late George G. Sharp.
Born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, daughter of the late James and Florence (Hodgkinson) Dewhurst, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Sharp was formerly employed as a manager at Kerry Fashions for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening.
Survivors include her daughter, Priscilla L. Wade of Dartmouth; a sister, Sr. Marie Christine Dewhurst, R.S.M. of Middletown, RI; 4 grandchildren, Maureen A. O'Neil of Uxbridge, Kathleen W. Tarnowski of Hampton, NH, Christopher J. Wade of Fairfax, VA and Susannah Querion of Milton; 9 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late George D. Sharp.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Sacred Heart Home for the care that Marie received.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 20th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
