Rodney Earl Morton
October 25, 1965 - May 13, 2021
Rodney, 55, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at Maine Medical Center on Thursday May 13th. Rod was born on October 25th, 1965 in Flint, MIchigan to Ronald and Claudia Morton.
He went to Flushing High School in Flushing, Michigan. He attended the University of Maine where he majored in Math and Statistics. He especially enjoyed the psychology classes.
From the age of 7, Rod had a unique ability to understand mechanics and electronics and was fascinated with the way that things worked. He repaired clocks, watches, radios and even tube TV’s. He qualified for MENSA at a young age. He had an insatiable appetite for learning.
Rod loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hiking, walking on the beach, swimming, and riding his bike for hours. His favorite hiking spot was Douglas Hill. He continued participating in all of these activities until his MS and FMS limited him to short walks. He recently got an electric-assist bike that he was looking forward to using this summer.
He streamed movies and old TV shows. He especially enjoyed documentaries and loved to tell you all about what he was watching.
Rod had a great love for all animals. He had 2 service German Shepherds, Misty who passed in 2012 and Lady who will be attending his funeral.
Rodney was generous and accepted everyone for who they were. He never walked by someone without saying hello. He liked the idea that each person had their own individual beliefs.
He listened to all genres of music but had a special love for Spiritual Music. He had a close relationship with the Eternal Father. He read the bible completely through many times and felt he had learned something new each time.
Rod is survived by his parents Ronald Morton and Claudia Morton-Peters. His life partner Bernadette Quinn and her children Connor Quinn, Allysa (Quinn) Pierce, her husband Tristan and their children Mariah and Marcus. HIs sister Debra Morton, his brother Robert Morton.
Nieces and nephews include Larissa (Morton) Woods and her husband Edward, Tiffany Schwicker and her partner Bryan Thomas, Joseph, Lillianna, Ronald and Derek Morton.
Great nieces and nephews include Chloe, Celia and Carl Woods.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday May 22 from 12 noon - 2:30 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 2:30 PM.
