Sylvia A. (Frost) Gaucher, 88, of Fairhaven died May 16, 2021 after a long illness at Sacred Heart Home.
She was the wife of the late Felix Gaucher, Jr.
Born in Fairhaven, daughter of the late Milton H. and Marjorie A. (Nichols) Frost, she lived in Fairhaven all of her life. She was very proud of purchasing the boyhood home of Henry Huttleston Rogers and keeping it up the way Henry would have been proud of.
She was formerly employed as a secretary at WLNE Channel 6 for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Gaucher attended Longy School of Music in Boston and played the violin for the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra.
She enjoyed cooking and was well known for her French Meat Pie and Quahog Chowder.
Mrs. Gaucher loved the town of Fairhaven; she would take her daily walk to the Millicent Library. There she would choose some cookbooks to read.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Boynton and her husband Richard of East Freetown; her brother, Jerome Frost of Ft. Mills, SC; 7 grandchildren, Hannah-Joy Beaulieu, Benjamin Boynton, Hillary Boynton, Haylee Boynton, Heather Speer, Justin Speer and Andrea Viera; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Ann Speer and Peter Gaucher and the sister of the late Richmond Frost.
The family would like to thank Delia DeCosta, Ashley Colon and Jentelle Rioux for the care they provided to Sylvia which allowed her to live at home.
Her visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 20th from 4-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 21st at 10 AM in the Christian Fellowship Center, 822 Church St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
