Obituary

WORCESTER___Arthur F. Tomasetta, Sr., 93, of Worcester, passed peacefully in his home with family at his side on Wednesday May 12, 2021. His wife of 53 years, Jean D. (Tanona) Tomasetta passed away in 2004.

He is survived by his children, Wayne F. Tomasetta and his wife Brenda of Worcester; Sharon F. Angelo and her husband Gary of Dudley; Arthur F. Tomasetta, Jr., and his wife Patricia of Millbury; Jean D. Turcotte and her husband Francis of Worcester and Brian Tomasetta and his wife Judy of Braintree. He was passionately known as “B” by his twelve grandchildren; Nicholas Tomasetta, Valerie Flibbert and her husband Jay, Crystal Hinchliffe and her husband Eric, Anthony Tomasetta, Deanna Tomasetta, Andrew Turcotte and his wife Elise, Samantha Turcotte, Caroline Tomasetta, Patrick Tomasetta, Liam Tomasetta, Chloe Tomasetta and Peter Tomasetta, two great-grandchildren Kayla and Calvin. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Arthur was predeceased by all eight of his siblings. He was born in Worcester, MA, a son of the late Constantino and Louisa (Gardella) Tomasetta and has lived here all of his life.

Mr. Tomasetta was a steel worker for 40 years for Wyman Gordon Co., and retired in 1990. He was a true Blue Patriot and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Kearsarge aircraft carrier. He was on the Navy boxing team, which led to a brief professional boxing career, shortened by an injury. Arthur was a great poker player, and he enjoyed his Foxwoods adventures. He also enjoyed all sports, both youth and professional, but most importantly, he was an avid Yankees fan. Arthur had the unique gift of giving “Knick Names” that where always spot on and everlasting. His honesty and frankness fostered friendships of many generations to this day!

Arthur’s funeral Mass will be held on Monday May 17th, 2021 at 12:00 PM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. Calling hours and Burial will be private per the request of Arthur. In lieu of flowers, contributions if you choose to do so, may be made to Arthur’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL SERVICE, 33 Ward St., is directing funeral arrangements.
