Michael J. Bastek, 74, of Hanson, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on May 12th. He was the beloved husband to Charlotte (Clemons) Bastek for 53 years.
Born in Lawrence, son of the late William and Mary A. (Ostrawkas) Bastek and a graduate of Lawrence High School, class of 1964, also graduated with honors from Art Institute (school of practical arts) in Boston in 1967.
He joined the United States Army in 1967, MOS was Military Intelligence, served at Fort Holaburd in MD and Fort Meade, MD for 3 years. Honorably discharged in 1970.
Michael, worked for the US Postal Service in Brockton for 20 years and also for So Shore Voc Tech High School in Hanover as a janitor/bus driver.
In addition to his wife Charlotte, he is survived by three sons, Peter M. of Bellingham, Matthew of Texas and Joseph W. of Whitman, his grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander and Ramona, his brothers Edward of AZ and Bernard (Butchie) of Dracut.
