Obituary

WORCESTER-Russell J. Adams, 84, of Worcester, died Tuesday, March 28th, at home, after a short illness. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Martha E. (Erickson) Adams; two sons, James W. Adams and his wife Albertine of Auburn and Robert C. Adams of Worcester; two daughters, Susan E. Johnson of Leicester and Donna E. Russell and her husband Wayne of Belchertown; three grandchildren, Mark Adams and his wife Denise of Grafton, Russell Adams and his wife Lisa of Oxford, and Amy Adams of Millbury; three great-grandchildren, Michael Adams of Grafton, Leah Adams of Grafton, and Alyssa Adams of Oxford. He also leaves his faithful companion, his dog Molly. He was predeceased by a brother, Edmond Adams, in 1929.

He was born in Worcester the son of William H. and Hilda C. (Pearson) Adams and attended South High School. Mr. Adams was a Police Officer for the City of Worcester for 38 years, retiring as Lieutenant in 1986. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of the Masonic Order, Joel Prouty Lodge, Auburn, receiving his 50 year pin in 2005. Mr. Adams was an avid hunter and fisherman.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, March 30th, in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A visiting period will be held from 9:00 until 10:30 AM the day of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
