Obituary

William J. ‘Bill’ Sutton, 62 of Lowell, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, May 10, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Elaine T. (Callahan) Sutton with whom he shared the last 36 years.

He was born in Portmouth, NH on December 8, 1958 and was a son of the late Olin Sutton Sr. and the late Florence (Hoffer) Sutton. During his childhood, his father was in the United States Air Force which required his family to travel often. He attended many schools until graduating from Coretz High School in Arizona.

In 1978, Mr. Sutton enlisted with the United States Navy serving onboard the USS Midway until his honorable discharge in 1980.

Bill was a gifted songwriter. He loved music and playing the guitar. He was also a published poet. Bill was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, but above all else, he adored time spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, Elaine of Lowell, he is survived by his daughter, Tracy Adair of Westford; his son, Michael Adair and his wife, Dawn of Lowell; his grandchildren, Dakota Bergeron, Jacey Adair-Sauro, Cassandra Gibbs, Ashley Adair, and Brooke Adair; and his great grandchildren, Soleana, David, Carter, and Ember. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Sutton and his wife, Beth of AZ, and Ken Sutton and his wife, Lolita from Washington State; and his two other brothers & his sister, Sue; as well as his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family and friends.

While following social distancing guidelines and wearing a mask, all are welcome to attend his calling hours on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, MA 978-458-6816.

At 6:30 p.m. United States Navy honors will be presented during the calling hours.
