Worcester – Mary (Bures-Zalopa) Maki, 72, of Worcester, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, May 7, 2021 in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus.
Mary was married to the late Clifford Maki who died in 2018. She is survived by her three sons, Joel Maki, Justin Maki and Jason Maki all of Worcester; two sisters, Helen Urbanovitch and her husband, Steven of Paxton and Ann Marie Bures; two brothers, Frank Bures Jr. and his wife Judy and John Bures and his wife, Gilda all of Shelton, CT; a brother-in-law, Norman Maki and many nephews and nieces.
Mary was born in Senne, Germany and is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Anna (Zalopa) Bures. She graduated from Shelton High School in Connecticut and Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, MA where she studied nursing.
Her career as a registered nurse included work at Worcester County Hospital in Boylston, Westborough State Hospital, UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus – Pediatrics Unit, and over 30 years at Family Services of Central Massachusetts, retiring in April 2020.
Mary was a member of the Worcester Seventh-day Adventist Church where she volunteered for many programs and sang in the choir. She always enjoyed being with her family and taking trips to any local flea market. She will be remembered for her kind personality and her second-to- none work ethic.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, May 15th at 3:00 p.m. at the Worcester-Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2 Airport Drive, Worcester. Private burial services will take place in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be made to the Worcester Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2 Airport Drive, Worcester, MA 01602-2434
