Clauye C. McCranie, 79, of Ocilla passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at his residence in Ocilla.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 14, 2021, at the Ocilla Baptist Church with Brother Billy Stephens & Brother Robert Couey officiating. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the start of the service.
We announce the loss of Mr. McCranie with deep sadness, but with immense pride of a life well lived. He was born February 25, 1942 in Irwin County Georgia to the late Samuel Clauye McCranie and Lorene Alligood McCranie. Following the death of his father he was raised by his mother, and adoptive father, Murphey Rogers. Clauye was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a 1960 graduate of Irwin County High School. He attended college at North Georgia College, received a degree in Bachelor of Science in 1964. He received a Master of Business at Georgia State University in 1971. He graduated from the Atlanta School of Law in 1972. Clauye was a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army with Hell on Wheels Armored Tank Division and was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving two years on active duty. Clauye was a member of the Georgia State Bar for 47 years.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Hazel H. McCranie of Ocilla; daughter, Michele McCranie Walker, Macon, GA and Sons & Daughter – In – Law: Mike McCranie, St. Simons Island, GA; Tim & Kelly McCranie, Ocilla, GA; Kent McCranie, Jacksonville, FL. Daughters and Son-In-Law: Amy & Dr. Brent Davis, Macon, GA; Emily Dunn, Atlanta, GA: nine "grand" children: Dr. Franky & Anna Davis, Emily Rose Stargel, Mathew Davis, Jessica Wilks, Mimi Davis, Maggie McCranie, Weston McCranie, Kinsleigh McCranie, Elijah McCranie, Abigail McCranie. Two Great Grandchildren: Trey & Ellie Davis. Sister – In – Law Julie McCranie. Loyal secretary of 29 years, Barbara A. Hogan; Special friends, Eddie and Cindy Giddens, Cady, Wrenn and Kade Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clauye McCranie; Lorene Alligood McCranie Rogers; Murphey Rogers; brother David McCranie; his nephew Matthew McCranie; and a Son-In-Law Roger Walker.
