Thomas Edwin Field, 78, of Port Charlotte Florida formerly of Braintree, MA died Tuesday, May 4th after a 2 year battle with cancer.
Thomas was born May 26, 1942 in Quincy, MA. He was the son of the late Edwin G. Field and the late Mary Sacchetti, he is survived by his wife Jane Carmichael Field of Port Charlotte, Florida. His 3 children, Pamela Field Ferri and her husband Nicholas of Framingham, Thomas M. Field of Braintree and Joanne Field Donnelly and her husband Paul of Braintree. He is also survived by his 3 grandchildren Ella Field, Owen and Ryleigh Donnelly who were the lights of his life. He was the brother of the late William Field of Braintree and sister of Marjorie Field Hull of Port Charlotte Florida.
He was a 1960 graduate of Quincy High School. He served in the United States Navy (Seabees). Following his service to his country, he dedicated over 30 years of service to the Braintree and Quincy Fire Departments before retiring in 1998. He was a devoted husband to his wife Jane of 55 years. They made their home in Braintree for 33 years before moving to Port Charlotte, Florida in 2001.
He was an avid hockey and baseball fan, who spent endless hours coaching his children in hockey, baseball and softball. After moving to Maple Leaf Estates in Florida he found his true passion, Golf! He loved playing golf but generally just loved being with his friends at Maple Leaf.
