Westport – Armand G. Menard, 79, of Westport, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at home with his family by his side after a long illness. He was the husband of 58 years to Lorraine D. (Roy) Menard.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Napoleon and Agathe (Morrisette) Menard, he had resided in Westport for most of his life. A veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army Air Corps, was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal. Prior to his retirement in 1992, he co-owned and operated Menards Poultry Farm of Dartmouth with his brothers. Mr. Menard was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family and was an avid sports fan.
Including his wife of 58 years, he is survived by 2 sons: William A. Menard of Westport and Richard A. Menard of Fall River; 5 daughters: Diane L. Sardinha of Fall River, Donna M. Andrade of Fall River, Denise J. Golden of Smithfield, RI, Michelle D. Roussel of Fall River and Anne M. Baldwin of Swansea; a brother: Henri L. Menard of Westport; 2 sisters: Juliette C. Parent of Westport and Jeanne Menard of Fall River; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was father of the late Kenneth R. Menard, Sr. and brother of the late Paul Menard and Rita Durette.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, March 31, 2006 from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 9:00 A.M.
Calling hours Thursday 5 – 8 P.M.
