Douglas Robert Schancer, 63 of Derry passed away Saturday May 8, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at his residence. Mr. Schancer was born October 13, 1957 in Queens, NY and was a son of the late Myron and Lola (Wolin) Schancer. He was raised in Valley Stream, NY and had been a resident of Derry for the past 26 years.
Doug served in the US Air Force from 1978 to 1982 achieving the rank of Sergeant E4 and had been employed as a Sr. Process Engineer at BAE Systems for 7 years. Doug enjoyed motorcycling, working around home and loved being with his family.
Members of the family include his wife of 26 years, Kathleen (Harper) Schancer, two sons, Martin D. Schancer and Gerard A. Briere, a daughter, Kathleen R. Briere, six grandchildren, Jonathan, Jerell, Chloe, Christopher, Taylor and Gabriel, and one great-grandchild, Gracelyne, his brother and his wife, Gary & Kathleen Schancer, a niece and her family, Kim & Mike Hastey, Owen and Seth and a nephew and his family, Kory & Shelley Schancer, Taylor and Levi.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday May 12, 2021, from 4 to 7pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. For those in attendance, face mask usage and social distancing are recommended.
