Obituary

Tom S. Mollung passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by family after a battle against a brief illness on May 5th, 2021 at the age 62. Born and raised in Waban (Newton), to the late Stian and Erna (Hovind) Mollung. He is a 1977 graduate of Newton North High School and later attended Northeastern University, Class of 1982, earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration and Management. He worked in corporate retail for a few years, where he met his wife of 36 years, Rosemary, at the former Zayre Corporation. Tom and Rosemary raised their family in Medway, MA.

To follow his dreams of owning his own business, Tom proudly established Mollung Associates in 2001. He had a passion for providing local businesses with marketing strategies and promotional materials. Being a father and grampy was Tom’s favorite job, never missing a softball game or horse show, driving his girls all over town, coaching a team, and prioritizing being present at home. He found joy in riding his motorcycle, camping at his parent’s family owned campground, fishing with friends, and spending time target shooting in the backyard. He was an avid collector of pens, leather notepads, and knives, which he found joy in sharing these collections with his family. He enjoyed fixing and building around the house, and is especially proud of the pergola he built in the backyard of his home where he enjoyed quality time with family and friends around the campfire. In his down time, you could find Tom playing lovingly with his dog, Chloe, binge watching popular crime shows, spending time outside, or creating a new gadget. He valued the importance of daily family dinners and frequent family day trips, such as a trip to the Cape Cod Canal to eat a good meal and watch the boats go by. Tom will be remembered for his child-like personality, witty sense of humor, proud Norwegian heritage, beautiful smile, warm hugs, confidence, authenticity, strong determination, and his devotion and deepest love for his three girls. He genuinely believed if you want something strongly enough, then you will make it happen.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary (Boardman) Mollung; his oldest daughter Leanne (Mollung) Beecher and her husband Stephen Beecher; his youngest daughter Danielle Mollung; and his precious grandson, Maxwell C. Beecher; his younger brother, Thor A. Mollung along with his wife, Karen (Coluntino) Mollung. He is survived by his many nieces and nephews. Additionally, Tom is also survived by his very best friend, Edward Karaian.

A private reception will be held at a later date. There will be no graveside funeral services at this time.
