Bridget A. (Ferreira) McCarthy, 65, of New Bedford passed away May 5, 2021 at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Robert McCarthy; they had been married for 38 years.
Bridget was the daughter of the late Joseph and Patricia (Hicks) Ferreira. She was born in Acushnet and was a life-long resident of New Bedford. She graduated from Bishop Stang High School in 1974.
Bridget worked at St. Luke’s Hospital for over 40 years starting in the cafeteria and then as an EKG technician in the cardiology department. She loved shopping with her daughter, watching the Boston Red Sox, playing cards, and playing bingo along-side her friend Benny.
In addition to her husband, Bob, she is survived by her daughter Meaghan Dugan and her husband Edward of New Bedford; her granddaughter, Emma Dugan, whom she loved and adored; and her brother Joseph Ferreira of New Bedford.
