Obituary

Louis Earl Sykes, 58, of Prosser, passed away on May 2, 2021 at his home.

He was born on March 25, 1963 in Anchorage, Alaska to Dan and Glenda Sykes (Bryant). He was raised and educated in Prosser and graduated from Prosser High School with the Class of 1981. While in high school he was a member of FFA and the PHS Wrestling team. After graduation, Louis moved to Arizona where he worked with his father at Nor’west Electric; and started a family. Later, he moved back to Prosser, Washington and established his own electrical contracting business, LESCO Electric, where he became a Master Electrician.

Louis enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, and boating. He loved to be the center of attention and kept busy with numerous projects around his home. He was known by many as “Uncle Louie”, stemming from his love for his nieces and nephews. But more than anything else, he loved being Grandpa to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Sykes (Fink) of Prosser; two daughters, Tiffany (Jesse) Torres of Richland, and Amy (Timothy) Hill of Land O’ Lakes, Florida; his son, Spencer (Debbi) Butterfield of Richland; his grandchildren, Andrew, Kennedy, Jasmine, Lillian, Darian, Elizabeth, Serenity and Braylon.

He is also survived by his mother, Glenda Sykes (Bryant) of Newport; step-mother, Nelda Sykes (Perry) of Spokane; his brothers, Greg Sykes, Jeff Sykes, Tim Sykes and Gregory Petrisor; his sisters, Trish Kuhn, Patty Schmidt, Kelly Petrisor, Shannon Adams, Sharnell Sykes; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Dan Sykes and son, Nathan Butterfield.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 14th at 2:00 at Prosser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00. You may leave a message for the family at www.Prosserfuneralhome.com
