Obituary



James D. DiBona, age 81 of Brockton, died May 5, 2021 at the Webster Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Rockland after a period of failing health. He was the devoted husband of Barbara A. (Godas) DiBona for 57 years. Jim was born and raised in Quincy, a son of the late Oswald and Nellie (Erickson) DiBona and was a resident of Brockton since 1971.

A graduate of Quincy High School, Jim served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a machinist by trade and worked at Boston Gear Works in Quincy for many years. In retirement Jim worked at Pharmerica, Good Samaritan and Goddard Medical Associates.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed cross word puzzles, gardening and watching Boston sports, especially the Red Sox and Bruins. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed his dog Max.

In addition to his wife Barbara, Jim is survived by his daughter Sherrie Barthe and her husband Anthony of Taunton and Annemarie Dwyer and her husband John of Taunton. He leaves five grandchildren Nicholas, Gabriella and Alicia Barthe and Courtney and Kelsey Dwyer and a great grandson Julian Dwyer. He was the brother of the late Richard DiBona.

Private graveside services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
