Luke “Sonny” Biggins passed away May 4, 2021 at the age of 66, after a brave fight with cancer.
He was a lifelong resident of Charlestown. Luke was born May 25, 1954. He was the son of the late Luke F. Biggins, Jr. and the late Rita B. (McLaughlin) Biggins. He is the beloved brother of Alice Hanley and her husband Paul, Ann Marie McLaughlin and her husband Paul, Janet Hayes and her husband Jim, Rita Sullivan and her husband Kevin, Catherine Irvin and her husband Billy, Paul Biggins, Patricia Mello, and the late Stephen Biggins, James “Jay” Biggins, and Marianne McLaughlin. He is the devoted nephew of Frances “Pauline” McLaughlin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as, many grandnieces and grandnephews. Most devotedly, he was the very close friend to his “Angel” Diane Hayes.
Luke was a member of the Bunker Hill Knights of Columbus #62, the Old Charlestown School Boys, and a dear friend of the Golden Age Center, where he loved joking with the “ladies” and call “bingo”.
To friends, he was Luke, to family, he was “Sonny”. He was a loving son and brother as well as “fun Uncle Sonny” to many nieces and nephews. If you met Sonny for the first time, he instantly became a friend and he cherished the lifelong friendships which he made. In addition to his love of cooking, Sonny was a very talented handy-man who could fix anything. He loved country music, old TV westerns, police shows, and playing cribbage. He was always there to lend a hand, provide a shoulder to cry on, or give words of encouragement when you needed it most. Sonny will be missed by his large family whom he loved and protected throughout his life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Luke's Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10 A.M. in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. His burial will be private. There are no funeral home visiting hours.
