Stephen J. Smith passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at the Brockton VA Hospice and Palliative Care Center after a long battle with liver cancer.
Stephen was born February 8, 1953, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Joseph C. Smith and the late Joan M. (Doris) Tiernan. Stephen is a Vietnam Era disabled veteran. He served honorably as a Medic in the United States Air Force. He worked many years as a Nurse with a special interest in the care of the elderly. He was a steadfast fan of all Boston sports and he enjoyed a spirited political debate.
Stephen is survived by his children Stephen Paul and his wife Celeste of Weare, New Hampshire and Kerri Lynn and her husband Baxter of North Reading and his 4 grandchildren. He is the brother of Kevin Smith and his partner Karen Kelly of Somerville, Terry Smith of Somerville, Barbara Sarno of Templeton and Joan Misler and her husband Donald of Methuen and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His family will honor and celebrate Stephen’s life at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne with a Graveside Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 5th, at 10:45am. All are welcome to attend.
