Obituary

John Milton McLaughlin of East Bridgewater age 70, passed away peacefully April 27, 2021 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home with his wife and children by his side. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Pitt) McLaughlin, to whom he was wed on July 19, 1975. He was a loving father to his three children: Kathryne McLaughlin of East Bridgewater, John McLaughlin and his wife Renae of Duxbury, and Allison O'Connell and her husband Jason of Parker, CO.

He was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on January 14, 1951. First son of the late John and Pauline McLaughlin of Holbrook.

John grew up in Holbrook, graduating from Holbrook High School in 1968, and beginning his career with the telephone company. In 1970 he entered the US Navy, serving as a radio operator. After the Navy, John returned to the telephone company where he worked as a cable splicer, he was a devoted employee for over 40 years, ending his career in the engineering department.

He was a strong patriarch of his family and a good friend to all. John loved spending time on Cape Cod with friends and times in Menauhant with the extended Pitt family. He had a love of travel, golf and music which he shared with family and friends. John had a long-standing interest in nature and archeology. In his retirement, he worked as a volunteer at the Robins Museum of Archeology. His favorite pastime was cheering on any Boston sports team, especially the Patriots and Red Sox.

John was a dear brother of Kevin McLaughlin and his wife Janice of Spring Hills, FL, Ruth Stephens and her husband Calvin of New Port Richey, FL and Grace Chafe of Braintree, MA. He was also a loving son-in-law to the late Earle and Alice Pitt of Walpole. Cherished brother-in-law of Linda Pitt, Earle Pitt, Alice Susan Donohue, and Margaret Iskyan. He was blessed with ten grandchildren: Matthew Shea, Jared Shea, James Shea, Karsyn Egan, Braden O'Connell, Abby O'Connell, Jack McLaughlin, Camden O'Connell, Emma McLaughlin, Declan O'Connell and a great-granddaughter Jaclyn Shea. Beloved "Uncle John" to many nephews and nieces.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, May 2nd, 2:00-5:00pm at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. A funeral mass will be held Monday, May 3rd, at 9:00am in the Holy Ghost Parish in Whitman, MA
