Peter graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and later attended Worcester Junior College. He continued his studies at WPI where he received a degree from the School of Industrial Management. For over 27 years he worked as a Manager of Transportation/Distribution for Table Talk Pies and subsequently as a Manager at Coca-Cola.

As a young man, Peter played basketball and baseball for his high school team and later played basketball for Worcester Junior. He continued playing basketball well into his 40s for several leagues and his church. He coached little league for many years and was a member of the Jesse Burkett little league board.

He was a kind and loving partner to his wife Alkmene, who he was married to for 54 years. He was a remarkable father to his son, Christopher Gaba and his wife Cheryl and his daughter, Joanna Gaba Raleigh and her husband Gregg. Aside from being survived by his wife and children, Peter leaves behind five grandchildren: Tommy, James, Luke, Benjamin and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his brother Alex.
