Jean was born in Worcester, daughter of the late J. Alston and Anna (Ritz) Wainwright. She graduated from South High School and Salter's Secretarial School. She dedicated her life to raising her family and tending their home and gardens. She had several jobs, ranging from secretary to MLS realtor. She was formerly a member of the First Congregational Church in Auburn and the Sand Dollar Squares of Myrtle Beach - their dance club. She was an avid gardener, and had a wonderful 22 year retirement in SC with Herb, dancing, gardening, and playing card games and Dominoes with friends and neighbors. She moved back to Shrewsbury (Southgate) after his death, to be closer to her remaining family. She also loved animals and babies - she smiled, and they always smiled back. That and her holding hands with Herb, wherever they went, are some of family's fondest memories.
According to Jean's wishes there are no services planned. Her ashes will be placed with Herbert's, in the urn they had purchased back in 2009. The urn will reside with the family, but may move to Rural Cemetery in Worcester at a later date.. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
