Maureen A. Fenton, age 86, of Brockton, died unexpectedly at her home April 23, 2021. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, Maureen was a 1953 graduate of St. Patrick’s School and continued a lifelong friendship with some of those in her class. For 35 years, she was an Administrative Assistant for the Plymouth County Juvenile Court in Brockton. Following her retirement, she was a longtime volunteer for the Brockton Public Schools. In 2005, she received the Albert N. Baroncelli Award for her dedicated volunteering. She was also nominated for the Champion of the City Award.
Maureen was proud of her Irish heritage and was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. Time spent with her nephews and niece was important to her.
Maureen is survived by her sister Sheila (Fenton) Hallisey of Brockton, nephews Vinnie Hallisey of Brockton, Brendan Hallisey of Bridgewater, Stephen Fenton of Naples, FL, David Fenton of Providence, RI, Thomas Fenton of Norton, Michael Fenton of Colorado, Daniel Fenton of Westwood, Christopher Fenton of Nevada, Justin O’Brien of Norton and niece Sarah Fenton of Berkley. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas F. Fenton of County Kerry, Ireland and Sarah A. (Greaney) Fenton of County Galway, Ireland and brothers Thomas Fenton of Attleboro and Gerald Fenton of Raynham.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday, April 30, from 9-10:30am. A Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11am, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Masks must be worn and social distancing observed in the funeral home and church.
