Estelle E. Stoddard, 78, of Rockland, formerly of Braintree, passed away on Tuesday April 20, 2021 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, surrounded by her loving family. Born May 8, 1942, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Stafford “Red” and Margaret (Ready) Stoddard. She is survived by her Goddaughter, Katherine Beth (Convery) Govoni and many cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
A graduate of Braintree High School, Estelle began working for the Quincy Court System shortly after graduation. She spent 40 years there, and much of that time she was the Head Administrative Assistant to the senior Judge. She also served on the Rockland Rent Control Board and was particularly proud of the part she had in securing rent control for seniors living in Rockland.
Estelle lived in Leisurewoods where she made many good friends. She was a Past President of the Leisurewoods Homeowners Association (LHOA). In addition to that role, she served on the LHOA Board of Directors, the Advisory Board, Activities Committee and Friendship Committee. Also, while at Leisurewoods, she was part of implementing a Trap-Neuter-Return program, successfully controlling Leisurewoods feral cat population.
Estelle had a deep faith and love for her Savior Jesus Christ. She shared her faith whenever possible and loved studying God’s word.
She loved dogs and cats and rescued many. Estelle’s favorite holiday was Christmas and her house was decorated for Christmas year round. She would join her many cousins each Christmas Eve for a family gathering. Estelle’s attendance was anticipated by all, especially the children, whom she lavished gifts upon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Holy Family Church in Rockland on Friday, May 7, 2021, at 9 AM. All are welcome, without restriction to join us after the Mass at the graveside service at Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Rockland.
