Robert Hammond, 79, of Whitman, beloved husband, father and grampy, died on April 25th at the South Shore Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Andrea (Morris) Hammond for 59 years
He was born in Brockton, son of the late William and Edna (Bartholson) Hammond, a graduate of Whitman High School in 1960.
He first worked for the Whitman public schools, then as a Whitman Auxiliary Police officer, as well as an auto mechanic and was the Whitman, Abington animal control officer.
Bob loved spending his time with his children, grandchildren, fishing, boating and hunting.
He was a proud member of the Phoenix Masonic Lodge for over 40 years. Bob contributed a great amount of his time to community service, most notably the several Red Cross blood drives he organized.
Bob was the brother of six siblings and he is survived by his children Lisa Pawell and her husband John, Lori Mahoney and her husband Michael, Vikki Smith and her husband John, his grandchildren Samantha Miller, Daniel Mahoney, Nicole Powell, Danielle and Joshua Smith, his great grandchildren Kaylee and Lukas Miller, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman on Wednesday April 28th from 5:00pm-7:00pm, followed by a 7:00pm Masonic Service. All other services will be private.
