GORHAM- Joan G. Brewer passed away peacefully Saturday April 24, 2021
in the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law Ann and Dan Gosselin in
Gorham, ME. She was born May 21,1927 in Portland, Me. The daughter
of Ralph Wiggin and Mildred Grant and step-daughter of Lester E. (Red)
Hughes and granddaughter of MaryAnn and C. Fred Grant.
She graduated from Presque Isle High School the class of 1944.
On September 4, 1946 she married the love of her life, Albert C. Brewer, Jr.,
They enjoyed the farming life in New York, Pennsylvania and Presque
Isle until Al's death in January of 2006.
At the age of 52 she pursued her dream of becoming a nurse and received her
Practical Nursing degree from NMVTI (now NMCC). In 1983 she went back
to school and attained her RN degree. After 23 years at TAMC she retired
in 2002 to enjoy her grandchildren and especially her great-grand children.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Mary-Martha Circle
for many years.
She is survived by her children: Helene M. (Michael)Bernard of Presque Isle,
Carlton C. (Linda) Brewer of Old Town, Scott A. Brewer of Presque Isle and
Ann M. (Dan) Gosselin of Gorham. 9 Grandchildren: Scott (Tory) Bernard,
Lisa ( Shawn) Rowe, Heidi (Travis)Rackliffe, Heather Richards, Christopher
Brewer, Jamie (Stephanie)Brewer, Bill (Justine)Brewer, Aimee (Travis)
McManus, Danielle (Vince) Demasco. She was also “More Gram” to 19 great-
grand-children, who were the lights of her life.
She is also survived by her brother, Ernest J Hughes of Opelika, Alabama, her
sisters-in law, Theresa Kisner of Charleston, W. VA. and Bridget Hayden
of Spokane, WA.
A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday June 19 at 10:30 am at Grant
Memorial United Methodist Church 79 Fleetwood St., Presque Isle. With
Pastor H. Choi officiating. time of conversation an refreshments will immediately follow in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, friends
may donate to Northern Light Home Care and Hospice 50 Foden Rd. South
Portland, ME. or Grant Memorial United Methodist Church P.O. Box 992, 79 Fleetwood St. Presque Isle, ME.04769 or the charity of their choice.
