Robert L. McDonough, 77, of Whitman, MA passed peacefully on April 18th. Born November 17th, 1943 in Dorchester, MA,
Bob was the third child of Michael McDonough and Gertrude (Doherty) McDonough.
He met his future wife of 49 years, Donna Fucci, at the Surf ballroom in Hull, MA. The two were married in 1967. Shortly after, they moved to Whitman, MA and began their family with sons Jamie, Brendan and Shaun.
Bob worked much of his life as a sheet metal worker for Shane Engineering in Canton, MA. Bob was a gifted jack-of-all-trades, always able to tackle any type of work put in front of him. He was the shop steward in the union for many years.
Apart from his family, Bob had a passion for cars. He spent many years restoring older cars and attending car shows in the area with his brother-in-law’s, Jack Perry of Weymouth, MA and the late James Fucci of Easton, MA.
Bob was the brother to Michael McDonough of Billerica, MA, the late Sheila Doyle of Quincy, MA, Maureen Perry of Weymouth, MA, the late Mary Tvelia of Weymouth, MA, and Eileen MacDougal of Seekonk, MA.
He is survived by his three sons, their wives Mary McDonough of Cork, Ireland, Meghan McDonough of Moorestown, NJ and Jennifer McDonough of Bridgewater, MA, and his nine grandchildren, Chloe, Tristan, Isabella, Leah, Caden, Declan, Cian, Sophia, and Kellan.
Visiting hours will be held at Blanchard Funeral Chapel located at Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, on Tuesday, April 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 28th at 9:00 AM at the Holy Ghost Church, School Street in Whitman, MA. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend.
