Richard A. “Rick” Ford passed away at home on Friday, April 16, 2021. He was 76 and was the son of the late Edward Ford and Florence (O'Daniels) Ford. Rick served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, completing several combat tours. He returned to civilian life and enjoyed a long career in mechanics and maintenance at the Mass College of Art in Boston. A resident of South Boston for most of his life, Rick lived in North Andover in recent years.
The brother of Maureen Ford of North Andover, the late Edward Ford and Elaine Elizabeth Morganti, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
A generous and kind man, Rick was devoted to his family, especially his nieces, nephews and their families. He always looked forward to holiday gatherings and barbecues in the summertime. Though he never forgot to shower his nieces and nephews with gifts and toys, he was especially generous to homeless veterans. He would often share with family that he was going to visit his “friends”, when he was actually going into Boston to give a sizable portion of his income to homeless vets. His kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
Rick’s services will be held privately and, with military honors, he will be laid to rest with his late parents at Forest Hills Cemetery.
